However, this diet got backlash, as many worried she was promoting unhealthy weight loss and moving away from the body positivity that many people know her for.

Lizzo hit back at these claims, explaining that you can love your body and want to improve it. In an Instagram post, she said, ‘I detoxed my body, and I’m still fat. I love my body, and I’m still fat. […] I did not starve myself. […] Do WHAT YOU WANT WITH YOUR BODY.’ In this caption, Lizzo reminded her followers that what she does to her body is her choice and reminded us of the importance of loving and accepting your body while also improving your health and fitness.

After the smoothie detox backlash, we didn’t hear much from Lizzo about her weight loss until she wowed us with her workout routine on TikTok! Where she showed us how she worked out at home.

Combined with her vegan diet, Lizzo was able to lose 50lbs! And she looks amazing!

Lizzo shared her workout on TikTok in 2020, working in her home gym and garden. The workout routine follows a range of bodyweight and resistance moves and exercises. These include weighted squats, battle ropes, and superman in a circuit style. So not only is she strengthening her body, but she is also implementing more cardio in her routines.

Lizzo also uses a jump rope and an exercise bike to get her cardio in.

Detox diets claim to help lose weight and cleanse the body from harmful toxins. But do they really work?

This means that there may be an initial weight loss, but it won’t last and weight gain is probable once you go back to your normal diet [1].

Working out or physical activity, on the other hand, can definitely help with weight loss. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) cites various health benefits of doing physical acitivities.
